1. What is rugby?
Only the best sport ever! All bias aside, rugby is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States, and is played across the globe. Rugby is played with 7-15 players from each team on the field at once, and uses an oval ball similar to a football, but larger. Play is continuous, only stopping for penalties, when the ball goes outside the field of play, or when a team scores, but the time keeps running during all of these "stoppages" in play. There are many unique positions and skills required on the field at once, making rugby truly a sport made for all!
2. I've never played rugby before, is that okay?
Yes! We have many players who have started brand new and have gone on to be excellent players. New players are always welcome!
3. Are there any costs involved?
We collect dues each season to help with standard operating costs like new balls, hydration for games, referee fees, etc. Team dues for Fall 2025 will be $100 for the season. We aim to make rugby inclusive for all, so if this cost is a deterrent to you, please talk to a board member about how we can help. We are happy to set up a payment plan!
In addition to dues, there is an insurance fee (CIPP) through USA rugby that is required in order to play. This is around $85 per year (September-August)
4. What if I can't come to every practice?
That is okay! We are an adult club sport, so we understand life happens. We just ask that you come to practice when you can, and put in good effort when present!
